Plinko App: Real or Fake?

Ads for a "Plinko app" promise easy money, quick withdrawals and sometimes the backing of a famous businessman. Here is what is real, what is not, and how to tell them apart.

Is there an official Plinko app?

The Plinko most people mean is the casino game by Spribe. Spribe builds its games for casinos: you open Plinko inside a casino site or the casino's own app, and it runs in the browser. Spribe does not sell a standalone Plinko app that pays you money by itself.

So when a page offers a "Plinko real money app download APK" that pays out without a casino account, that is not the Spribe game.

The "Plinko app by Patrice Motsepe" ads

In South Africa many people search for a Plinko app "by Patrice Motsepe". Scammers often borrow the names of well-known people to make fake offers look trustworthy. The Motsepe Foundation has published a scam alert saying that neither Dr Motsepe nor the foundation runs giveaways of this kind, and African Rainbow Capital has warned about fake profiles using its name.

We found no statement from Dr Motsepe or his companies backing any Plinko app. Treat any ad that links a public figure to a Plinko app or to guaranteed winnings as a scam, do not pay "activation" or "withdrawal" fees, and report it.

How to spot a fake Plinko app

It promises that you will win or that withdrawals are guaranteed. A real game of chance cannot promise that.
It asks for a fee to unlock your winnings or to "verify" a withdrawal.
It comes as an APK file from a link in an ad or a chat instead of an app store or a known casino.
It shows a balance that grows fast at the start. Early wins are a common hook.
It uses the photo or name of a celebrity, a politician or a businessman.
